? THE HANDY HACKS

This Intricate Mandala Doily Looks Hard - But One Row at a Time, You'll Be Amazed

Rnd 9 - Clusters and chains

In the first ch-1 space between dc from Rnd 8:

  • Work (2-dc cluster, ch 2).
  • Then in the same space and the next ch-1 space: pick up 2 unfinished dc from each (4 total), yo and pull through all 4 (joined cluster), ch 2.
  • In the second ch-1 space again: work 2 unfinished dc, ch 1.
  • Then into the ch-2 space from the sc (Rnd 8), work a sc, ch 1.

Repeat from around - 12 times. Join.

Rnd 10 - Final petal shaping

In each cluster group from Rnd 9:

  • dc in first cluster.
  • In next ch-1 space, work 3 dc.
  • dc in middle cluster.
  • In following ch-1 space, work 3 dc.
  • dc in third cluster.
  • Then through the back of the picot stitch from Rnd 7, work a sc.

Repeat 12 times. Join.

Rnd 11 - Simple border

In the first dc of any group from Rnd 10:

  • Work 9 BLO sc in the next 9 stitches.
  • Then work 1 FLO sc through the previous round's stitch that belongs to the picot area (or simply the stitch just after the picot).

Repeat (9 BLO sc, 1 FLO sc) 12 times. Fasten off, weave in ends.

Your doily is finished! Block it gently (pin it flat and steam lightly) to open up the picots and make the petals lie flat. Now place it under a vase, a candle, or give it to someone who loves handmade beauty.
